A remarkable feature of the Wisconsin Driftless Area is Native American rock art, most of which was created before European contact.  I’m blessed with some examples near the house, known also only by a few neighbors and some Wisconsin archeologists.

The ground here is very old, and so is its human presence. The 400 years that Europeans have been in Wisconsin marks just 3% of the period of human occupation here. Rock art is a telling of that much deeper human story.
